podcast - Jeremy Vaughan - detention & determination
On this episode I’m joined by Jeremy Vaughan. Jeremy is a Vancouver-based personal trainer and movement coach who is much more than what meets the eye.
We start this episode by exploring our relationships to the fitness culture and the disparity between the fitness instructor facade vs what really goes on behind the scenes. Jeremy shares his secret sauce for standing out from the dime a dozen personal trainers here in Vancouver.
We then switch gears and go deep. Like, real deep.
Jeremy only recently started opening up about his incarceration in a US federal prison and I had the pleasure of sitting down to hear his story.
I won’t give away anything more, but will say that his being in prison shaped him into who he is today. Literally and figuratively.
Even though I’m physically contained here, I can still grow mentally and they can’t contain that.

I aim to create change in the way we think about our health and wellness by emphasizing the paramount importance of the mind-body connection. With a competitive soccer background and extensive movement education, I have the experience and knowledge to help you reach your movement goals, live the lifestyle you want, and carry the mindset that movement happens in all areas of our life.
Practice what you Preach.
Having a competitive athletic background, I know what it takes to train like an Athlete, but what I’ve found through experience is there’s so much more to practice with the body. Combining my knowledge of Strength and Conditioning, my own practice of movement combines traditional strength lifts and athletic conditioning with body weight flow movements that incorporate Mobility, Agility, and Stabilization. I train my body for how I functionally want to live, which embodies a holistic overview.
